About me: Sophia

Sophia here. I’ve always had a hard time starting personal intros, so I guess I’ll “Begin at the beginning” as Lewis Carroll so aptly advised. I was born and raised in the suburgatory bubble of Orange County. Like my co-blogger Mansi, I completed my undergrad in 2012 at UCLA before crossing over to east-Los to attend USC med (of course, I’ll always be a true Bruin at heart!).



At UCLA, I studied a mouthful of a major- Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. Besides doing lab reports, it didn’t have a whole lot to do with writing. However, I’d always harbored an interest in writing (especially creative writing) since I was a little girl and, in college, would look for excuses to write, usually in the form of workshop classes. Thus, you can imagine how easy it was for Mansi to persuade me to start up this blog with her.

Sometimes it still feels surreal to think that I’m here in med school. But at other times it’s hard to remember that this is “living the dream”. When I’m not studying, you can usually find me hanging out with friends, playing my uke or enjoying the outdoors. My journey here at Keck has been full of wonderful experiences and people so far, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
